Find and filter courses in your training catalog

Overview

The Training Catalog is where users go to:

  • Browse available courses
  • Find specific training
  • Start or continue courses
  • View learning paths
  • See completed training

Accessing the Catalog

For Regular Users

  1. Log in to the LMS
  2. Click Catalog in the main navigation menu
  3. The Training Catalog page displays all available courses

What Users See

  • Learning Paths - Multi-course sequences at the top
  • Individual Courses - Single courses grouped by category
  • Completed Courses - Finished training at the bottom

Search Features

Text Search

  1. Find the search box at the top of the catalog
  2. Type keywords to search for: course titles, descriptions, category names

Example searches: "fire safety", "GDPR", "leadership"

Category Filter

  1. Click the Category dropdown
  2. Select a specific category (e.g., "Health & Safety")
  3. Only courses in that category display

Difficulty Filter

  1. Click the Difficulty dropdown
  2. Select a level: All Levels, Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced

Tip

You can use multiple filters together - search for "safety" AND filter by "Beginner" difficulty to narrow results to match both criteria.

Understanding Course Cards

Course Card Elements

Status Indicators

  • Not Started - User hasn't begun the course
  • In Progress - User is partway through
  • Completed - User has finished the course

Learning Paths

Learning Paths are sequences of related courses.

Identifying Learning Paths

  • Blue header with "Learning Path" badge
  • Shows multiple courses in a specific order
  • May include calendar sessions

Learning Path Information

  • Progress bar - Shows completion percentage
  • Course list - All courses in order with completion status
  • Total duration - Combined time for all courses

Starting a Learning Path

  1. Click Start Path (or Continue Path if already begun)
  2. The first incomplete course opens
  3. Complete courses in order

Starting a Course

From the Catalog

  1. Find the course you want
  2. Click Begin (for new courses)
  3. Or click Continue (for in-progress courses)
  4. Or click Review (for completed courses)

Course Player

After clicking Begin/Continue:

  • The course opens in the course player
  • Complete the content
  • Pass any quizzes
  • Get your certificate

Completed Courses Section

What's Shown

  • All courses you've completed
  • Completion date
  • Score achieved
  • Option to review or redo

Reviewing Completed Training

  1. Click Review on a completed course
  2. See your score and completion date
  3. Option to redo the course if needed

Tips for Users

Finding Required Training

  • Look for "Mandatory" badge on course cards
  • Courses assigned to your dashboard

Tracking Progress

  • Use your Dashboard to see assigned training
  • Check Catalog for optional courses
  • Look at progress bars on learning paths

Troubleshooting

Can't find a course

  • Check spelling in search
  • Clear all filters and try again
  • Ask your admin if the course is available for your role

Course won't start

  • Try refreshing the page
  • Check your internet connection
  • Try a different browser

Progress not saving

  • Don't close the browser mid-course
  • Allow the course to fully load
  • Contact your admin if issues persist

Visibility Note

Users only see courses they have access to. If a course doesn't appear, it may not be assigned to your department, may not be available for your job role, or may be inactive.
