One programme. Mix courses, sessions, and sign-off.
Sequence e-learning, instructor-led sessions, documents, and self-assessments into a single journey. Qualification pathways add manager or line-manager sign-off and award a competence credential on the learner's profile.

Why teams use Learning Pathways
Assigning courses one by one works for a single module. A pathway is for programmes — induction, a role, or a competence you need someone to sign off.
One journey, mixed formats
Put e-learning, instructor-led sessions, documents, and self-assessments in the same pathway instead of chasing each piece separately.
Sequential or flexible
Require steps in order, or let people complete them in any order. Assign to groups, mark as mandatory, and set due dates.
Sign-off that awards a credential
Qualification pathways wait for named approvers, groups, or the learner’s line manager. Approved work becomes a competence credential on their profile.
How it works in practice
Admins build the pathway once. Learners follow it. Managers sign off only when you ask them to.
Build the pathway
Add courses, documents, sessions, and optional self-assessments. Choose whether learners must follow the sequence or can complete steps in any order.
Choose standard or qualification
A standard pathway completes when the steps are done. A qualification pathway adds sign-off — auto-qualify, pathway sign-off, or per-component plus pathway sign-off.
Assign and track
Assign to groups with due dates. Learners see progress on their Learning Paths. When sign-off is required, they see Awaiting Approval.
Approve and award
Managers and admins act in Approvals → Qualifications. Approve or deny. The competence credential appears on Profile → Credentials & qualifications.
Manager sign-off, then a competence credential
When the steps are complete, the learner waits for approval. Approvers can be named people, groups, or the submitter's line manager. They work from Admin Dashboard → Approvals → Qualifications. The credential is not a course PDF certificate, and it is not an uploaded external certificate — it is the record that this programme was signed off.
Qualification pathway setup guideFrequently asked questions
What is a learning pathway?
A structured programme of steps — courses, live sessions, documents, and optional self-assessments — assigned as one journey rather than a pile of separate courses.
What is a qualification pathway?
It adds sign-off after the steps are complete. Named approvers, groups, or the learner’s line manager review the work in the Approvals Inbox. Once approved, the learner receives a competence credential on their profile.
Is a competence credential the same as a course certificate?
No. Course completion certificates are issued when an individual course is finished. A competence credential is awarded after a qualification pathway is signed off. External certificates uploaded by learners are a separate process.
Can a pathway include live training and documents?
Yes. Each step can be an e-learning course, a document, a booked instructor-led or virtual session, or a self-assessment (where that module is enabled).
