Personal & Shared Email Domains
How Domain Management and SSO allowed domains control who can sign up and use SSO
Two different domain controls
Both appear under Admin → System Settings → SSO & Provisioning:
| Card | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Domain Configuration | Auto-redirect to SSO and Allowed Domains (comma-separated) for which email domains can use SSO |
| Domain Management | Primary Domain, Allowed Domains list, Add New Domain — users can only sign up with emails from allowed domains; primary domain cannot be removed |
Personal email domains
Consumer domains (for example common personal providers) cannot be added in Domain Management. The platform message is: Personal email domains cannot be added here; create users with those addresses directly.
Tip
Create such users via User Management (individual or bulk) rather than claiming the personal domain for signup.
Emails already used elsewhere
Email addresses are unique identities. Typical errors:
- Email already exists in this organisation
- This email already exists in a different organisation
- When claiming a corporate domain already taken: One or more domains are already claimed by another organisation
Privacy boundaries
You cannot take over another organisation's claimed domain or reuse an email that already belongs to another tenant. Contact TrainMeUK support if you need a migration plan.
SSO Allowed Domains
SSO Allowed Domains only controls which domains may use SSO / auto-redirect — it is not the same list as Domain Management signup domains.
