Most site teams believe they're checking CSCS cards properly because someone looks at the card at induction. It feels like a check. It isn't a reliable one.

A visual inspection cannot detect a card that has been revoked, fraudulently obtained, or has simply expired since it was last seen. The card in someone's wallet can look perfect and be worthless. How to Verify a CSCS Card in 2026
