Creating a New Project

Set up a new course project using the Creation Wizard

Overview

When you create a new project, a guided wizard helps you:

  1. Set up theme and branding
  2. Define the course structure
  3. Configure quiz settings
  4. Use AI Draft Assist (optional) - Automatically generate course content, pages, and quizzes

This ensures your course is properly set up before you start adding content. If you enable AI Draft Assist, the AI will generate a complete course draft based on your brief, saving hours of manual work.

How It Works

Creating a project sets up the foundation for your course. The creation wizard collects essential configuration information upfront, which is then used throughout the course-building process and embedded in the final SCORM package.

Project Creation Process

When you create a new project:

  1. Wizard Initialization - The creation wizard opens and guides you through setup steps
  2. Configuration Collection - System gathers theme, branding, and structural preferences
  3. Project Creation - A new project is created with your settings applied
  4. Editor Access - You're taken to the course editor with a blank course structure
  5. Default Pages - A welcome page is created automatically (you can remove or modify it)
  6. Settings Applied - All theme and branding settings are immediately active in the editor

What Gets Configured

The wizard collects three main types of settings:

Theme & Branding

  • Primary and accent colors used throughout the course
  • Background colors and styling
  • Logo (if uploaded)
  • Typography preferences
  • Applied to all pages automatically

Course Structure

  • Initial page setup (welcome page created)
  • Navigation preferences
  • Course flow settings
  • Can be modified later in the editor

Quiz Configuration

  • Default pass threshold (e.g., 80%)
  • Quiz behavior settings
  • Feedback options
  • Applied to all quiz pages you create

Project vs Course

Understanding the terminology:

  • Project - The working version in the Course Builder (what you edit)
  • Course - The exported SCORM package (what learners use)
  • Version Control - Each export creates a version, but the project continues to exist
  • Editing - You edit the project, then export to create a new course version
  • Export History - Previous exports are tracked for version management

Settings Inheritance

Configuration set in the wizard:

  • Applies to the entire project
  • Can be changed later in project settings
  • Gets embedded in the SCORM package metadata
  • Affects how the course appears to learners

Tip

Take time to configure the wizard properly - it saves time later. You can always change settings in the editor, but setting them upfront ensures consistency from the start.

Starting a New Project

  1. Go to Admin → Course Builder
  2. Click New Project
  3. The setup wizard opens to guide you through configuration
  4. Complete the wizard steps to set up your course
  5. Click Create Project to finish

Once created, your course is fully customisable from the editor screen. You can add, remove, and rearrange pages, change themes, and modify any settings at any time.
