How Course Content Works
Course records, Course Builder projects, SCORM packages, catalog imports, and assignments explained
The pieces
| Piece | Where you manage it | What learners see |
|---|---|---|
| Course record | Admin → Course Management (Add Course / edit course) | Title, type, settings, and launch entry in their assigned learning |
| SCORM package | Upload on a SCORM course (SCORM File) or overwrite via catalog update | Interactive e-learning player content |
| Course Builder project | Course Builder — author pages/blocks, then publish/export into a course | Same as SCORM once published into a course package |
| Catalog import | Built-in Course Catalog → Add Course / update SCORM | Ready-made TrainMeUK content as a normal course in your tenant |
| Policy / session / external certificate courses | Course Management → Add Course with the matching type | Acknowledgement, booking/attendance, or evidence upload — not a SCORM player |
| Assignment | Course Management → Assign to Groups (and related assignment tools) | Whether the course appears for that learner at all |
How content reaches a learner
- Create or import a course record in Course Management (or via Catalog).
- Attach content: upload SCORM, publish from Course Builder, or use policy/session/external type.
- Assign the course to people or groups. Visibility Rules are not the same as Assign to Groups.
- Learner opens the course from their assigned learning and completes it.
Note
A Course Builder draft is not learner-facing until it is published into a course package and that course is assigned.
