When to upload a SCORM package or import from the catalog versus authoring in Course Builder
The decision
Course Management holds the course record learners are assigned to. Content can come from a SCORM ZIP you upload, a TrainMeUK Course Catalog import, or a package published from Course Builder.
Note
Authoring pages and widgets happens in Course Builder. Uploading someone else’s package (or importing from the catalog) skips authoring — you attach ready-made SCORM to the course record.

| Catalog first, Builder later | Start from a catalog course, then customise in Builder only if the stock package is not enough |

Common mistakes
- Building a full Course Builder draft and expecting learners to see it before publish/assign
- Re-authoring catalog content from scratch when Add Course / update SCORM would do
- Treating upload success as “training is live” — you still need assignment
Recommended setup
- Prefer Built-in Course Catalog when a pre-built course fits
- Otherwise create the course in Adding Courses and either upload SCORM (SCORM Package Management) or author in Course Builder
