Ink Scenario
Build branching Teams-style conversation scenarios with AI, Guided canvas, or Expert Ink
Overview
Ink Scenario is a page content block (toolkit label: Ink Scenario, type inkScenario). It builds a branching conversation that learners play in a Teams-like chat UI.
Not the same as quiz simulations
Quiz toolkit items Email simulation, Browser simulation, and Teams simulation are separate question types. Ink Scenario always uses a Teams-like chat skin for the block — that is not the quiz Teams simulation question.
Add and author an Ink Scenario
1
Insert the block
- Open your project in Course Builder
- From the Content toolkit, open Scenarios
- Add Ink Scenario
2
Choose a mode
The block supports three modes:
| Mode | Use when |
|---|---|
| AI | You want a generated branching graph from a short brief |
| Guided | You want to edit the node map and conversation on the guided canvas |
| Expert Ink | You want to work in the TrainMeUK Ink dialect (advanced) |
3
Craft scenario with AI
- Choose Craft scenario with AI
- In Craft your Teams scenario, complete:
- Premise
- Who contacts the learner?
- What should learners practice?
- Click Generate scenario
4
Open Guided Canvas and preview
After generation (or when editing), use Open Guided Canvas to work with the map and conversation wizard. Preview play uses the Teams-style player driven by the guided model — learners do not run raw Ink story playback in the exported course.
Good to know
- Pass/fail outcomes should be ending nodes (ending message panel), not free-form mid-conversation logic.
- Expert Ink supports a limited dialect (knots, choices, meta tags). Unsupported Ink features are blocked at compile time.
- For Outlook-style inbox or browser quiz items, see Building Quizzes.
Tip
Prefer AI or Guided for most courses. Use Expert Ink only when you need fine control of the dialect.
Note
Course Builder itself requires the SCORM builder module to be enabled for your tenant.
